Brand is probably the most
powerful marketing tool that experts ever came up with. Years have passed, and
decades went away; however, you are yet to see any replacement for ‘brand
development’ concept. Be it an individual or a firm, building a brand name is
considered vital for the long-term success but it’s not an easy job to do that.
It’s a new year with everyone having some resolutions on the top.
While
extending ou best wishes for your new plans, we are sharing some very simple
suggestions for online branding in 2014- they have worked well in my case.
Grab them here…
1: Create and Share Unique Identity:
Imagine, if you didn’t have a name;
how would your family or friends would have called/distinguished you in the
crowd? The same goes true about businesses. If you cannot give it a unique
identity and spread the word about it; don’t expect some miracles in corporate
terms. Therefore, when you enter 2014, make sure to develop and share some name
that could explain you as a unique entity.
2: Diversify the Narrative, Not the Objective:
There are plenty of social media
portals that spread word of mouth these days. A key strategic mistake that most
of the businesses commit, is ignoring diversification of the narrative. No
doubt, you do the particular type of business and the same description serves
the purpose, as far as information sharing is concerned. However, we must remember
that every social media site has different demographics that want to see a
slightly different version/episode of the story. So, I advise you to diversify
your content while keeping the objective same.
3: Keep Things Simple and Short:
This is probably one of the most
terrific strategic suggestion, ever developed. Convey your message to the
public in simple and plain words. For example, I just saw Twitter profile of a
content writer, who wrote her short bio as “I help businesses develop quality
content to drive healthy traffic towards their website and achieve content
marketing goals”. Now, this is plain and simple sales letter to prospects.
If you are selling some kind of
software, like; shockwave flash crash fixer, explain it in a clear and concise
manner. The possible narration could be; ‘If your browsers shockwave flashkeeps crashing, download our free fixing tool and enjoy smooth browsing
experience”. Never go for verbosity or complicated tech terms, if the objective
can be achieved with plain language.
4: Create Engaging and Conversational Content:
Be it social media status, some lengthy blog
post, or an SEO article; come up with an idea that could engage users. After
recent hummingbird update by Google, search engines would love conversational
and engaging content. Therefore, be it some short answer to a question or a
lengthy article; converse with the readers as you are talking to him. Trust me,
this is a million dollar secret that I am sharing with you. Most of the search
engine optimizers are yet to figure out the key objectives behind ‘Hummingbird”
and Penguin 2.1, which is conversational search. Anyway, your compelling
content will attract people, promote shares, drive traffic, and strengthen your
brand as a result. Give it a try today.
5: Make a Strong Backup- Flexible Strategy
You see that search is turning a
bit complicated owing to frequent updates by search engines. I strongly
recommend you not to stick to one policy document for the entire year 2014.
Instead, lay down some basic points but keep a backup plan that could be
operationalized in case of any new update. Keep your strategic plan flexible
enough to accommodate essential updates, with the time.
